General Sales Support / A few more notches of flaps
« on: August 16, 2019, 05:59:08 PM »
Dear visitors, customers and friends,

when I retired I had hopes of continuing at least FSAddon as one of my many activities, dropping many others. And I still intend to..... but reality has shown that I now have to spend MUCH more time on my private life, my dear wife, our new friends and the village community here in Italy.
Then there is the extensive travel we do on discovering all these fine historic towns, wonderful restaurants, gorgeous vistas.....

And last but not least, age plays its ugly part. Summers here are very hot and most certainly limiting what I can do at my PC, while the house is very cold in winter, except a few areas. We cannot heat it all I'm afraid.

All combined throws a major spanner in the wheel of my 365 x 24 support I used to provide. (Yes, I was a true workaholic). 2 weeks ago we left for a short holiday in Switzerland, upon return the 10-day village fest started where we are volunteer helpers, in between I got some nasty stomach virus..... resulting in not even turning my PC on for over 16 days.
Something totally unheard of 3 years ago when I was ALWAYS on-line one way or other.

I will try and get rid of the backlog of e-mails first. But going forward PLEASE BE ADVISED that answers in the forum and via e-mail can take MUCH LONGER than you were used to. I am not getting any younger, I am NOT growing the business anymore, just maintaining it for the sake of existing customers and one or two developers still with me.

My main activity in flight simulation today is working on MY OWN home cockpit (first time in 35 years) and writing about flightsim on my blogs and elsewhere.

I IMMENSELY APPRECIATE all your support over the past 20 years and still hope to see you here, in my shop, at events and in forums from time to time. BUT JUST TAKE NOTE, I HAVE THROTTLED DOWN and will continue to do so.

Warmest regards from a sunny Italy,
Francois

FAQ / Do FSAddon products work in P3D ?
« on: March 01, 2018, 04:05:30 PM »
Up until P3D V3 most of them did.

There are some threads on the support forums indicating if and how. But with Version 4 of Prepar3D it seems to have become a problem.
Unfortunately our products were all designed for and tested on FSX SP2 and that's the only guarantee we can give you. They will work fine there. Some will work in P3D, others (in V4) may not.
Since yours truly is retired now, FS development has taken a back seat and real life took over. I am still trying to possibly update (some of) the products, but I cannot give you any timeframe for it. Sorry.

FAQ / Where did Misty Fjords go?
« on: March 01, 2018, 04:02:01 PM »
Misty Fjords was made for FS9 (FS2004), and its successor never finished (the author moved to another publisher). Since we cannot adapt the installer and the webshop is having problems with the serial number generation, I decided to take it down. Too much hassle.
If you STILL are bent on getting it for your old FS9 installation - after all it was an awesome product ! - you can contact me directly and I'll provide a download manually.

FAQ / I didn't get a download link or serial number
« on: December 23, 2017, 11:18:07 AM »
Well..... you actually probably DID.... but you didn't see it.  :P

The thing is.... the actual shop is based on Shopify software, but the files are stored with an other c0ompany, so you get TWO emails. One with the order confirmation..... and one with the downloads and serials. The latter is being sent from 'Sendowl' .... so please check your spam folder !

If you still cannot find it then by all means, drop me an email: francois@fssupport.com

General Sales Support / Christmas Discount and how to get it
« on: December 23, 2017, 11:15:22 AM »
Hi all,
I have received a number of inquiries about how to actually GET that 50% discount. Unfortunately I don't know how to change the shop software..... and the way it works is that the customers (i.e. YOU) have to enter a DISCOUNT CODE on the last screen BEFORE paying.

The code you need to enter this time is 'christmas' ..... after that you will see the discounted total applied and that's what you'll pay.

The sales are valid from Dec 12th til January 1st !

Also, I officially retired back in October and that means I now have to spend more time doing other things than work..... like giving some attention to my dear wife for instance..... I continue the shop and my other FS activities of course (how could I stop after 45 years !!??), but it will be more on a 'hobby basis' and that means response and support may take some more time now and then. I beg your pardon :-)

Merry Christmas!!
Francois

Tongass Fjords Support / Tongass Fjords X in P3D
« on: June 03, 2017, 04:21:45 PM »
Although it was developed for FSX. Tongass Fjords can also be used in Lockheed's P3D 'version' of FSX.
Below are a few links outlining on how to install it and a reminder of the 'tree problem' solution

--------------
All FSAddon products were originally made for FSX (SP2), without any guarantee to work in other 'spinn-off' programs such as Dovertail Games' FSX-SE or Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D. Sure enough, most will still work, with or without 'conversion tools'. But with P3D Version 4 things seem to have changed. Unfortunately there isn't much chance of 'adapting' FSAddon products to the new FSX derivatives, simply because the authors are no longer with us. For our famous Tongass Fjords FSX however, there is an option to install it in P3D V4 anyway, thanks to the Misty Moorings group.... a bunch of customers (and fellow FS users) that have always been very active and supportive of FSAddon's products.

They now have published a 'guide' on how to adapt Tongass Fjords for P3D V3 and V4. It can be found on and downloaded from their website here !

Many thanks to the authors; Rod Jackson (stiletto2), Dexter Thomas (Dexthom) and Gavin Cole !!

Lionheart Creations / FAQ on Fairchild package
« on: March 23, 2017, 11:28:06 AM »

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question:  I purchased the Fairchild 24 Series and installed it but it doesnt show up in my Flight Sim.  Why?
Answer:  The installer may have missed finding the Registry location of FSX or Prepar3D.  You might have it on a separate drive and it
might be hidden for some odd reason.  If this is the case, note the actual location, run the installer again, and this time, manually set the
location of the target install via the small Browse button.  Then click OK and let it continue, loading the package into the main FS folder.

Question:  If the Fairchild 24 Series goes into a next build series up, such as 2.0 or 3.0, do I need to purchase the package all over
again?
Answer:  No.  You are entitled to all factory updates, being an owner of the package.  See your vendor for details and request the
update 'if' the update is a full 'complete installer' version update.  (Some mini-updates will be available, here only at Lionheart Creations.
Vendors will not carry the mini-updates on a normal basis).

Question:  Will this plane work in FS2004?  Is this a FS2004 version model or pure FSX?
Answer:  No.  :(  This is a pure FSX / Prepar3D only model, featuring dual VC and exterior models in FSX SDK formats.  This will 'not'
work in FS2004, unfortunately.  I tried all that I could to make this work in FS2004.

Question:  Is this available in other locations other then Lionheart Creations Ltd?
Answer:  Yes.  We sell through the famous Euro outlet, SimMarket.com which also feature a backup CD service for a small fee.

Question:  Will this work on a slow computer?  What are the requirements?
Answer:  The Fairchild 24 Series is a high resolution package.  Very many of the textures in this package are 2048 sized textures.  If
your computer is only running on 2 Gigs of RAM memory, then you might thing twice on obtaining the Fairchild package.  But, I should
add, if you have a graphics program that can resize DDS textures, then you are able to reduce textures  down to 1024 size to run more
smoother with slower computers that are RAM challenged.

Question:  Will there be a paint kit for the Fairchild 24 Series?
Answer:  Yes.  Again, as soon as we can, we will have the paint kit uploaded.  This will be in Adobe Photoshop PSD layered format.

Question:  What is in this package?
Answer:  The Fairchild 24 Series features 2 versions of landing gear; Classic Fairings and Bush non-fairing, as well as Floats.  There
are also many variations of instrument panel color variations.

Question:  Does this feature its own Soundpack or does it use a stock Soundpack?
Answer: Yes.  This features an authentic, brilliant straight 6 soundpack for the Fairchild 24 Ranger, and an awesome radial soundpack
for the Warner version Fairchild.  You will not be disappointed by these well made sound packs.

Question:  I have a huge part sticking out of the top of my plane?  What is that?
Answer:  Sounds like your FSX simulator is missing its FSX SP1 and SP2 udpates.  You must not have the FSX SP1 Service Pack
installed.  Sometimes you must also install the SP2 as well.  If you have already installed the SP1 and its still not working, then reload it
from the FSInsider.com website on the Downloads page.

Question:  My plane turns black after installation or on a long flight in FSX.  Why?
Answer:  Reboot your computer after first installing the package.  If you have been flying for a while and parts 'turn' black, then your Sim
memory is maxed out in resources from high settings.  Please lower your settings.  To test this, turn off your clouds and your AA setting
in Display.  When first installing your plane, you may need to reboot if you have Win7 OS64 and vista OS64. Rebooting allows it to see
the textures.  This is rare, but happens now and then.

Question:  My aircraft shows up, but my gauges arent showing.  Why?
Answer:  The installer at times will place the Gauges CAB file in the 'stock' location, C: drive.  The nearly never happens.  You can run
the installer to a TEMP folder on your desktop, using the browse button before file uploads begin.  After it finishes, look in your gauges
folder in there, locate the CAB files and drop those in the Gauges folder in FSX.

Question:  Will flying this plane for over 10 hours at a time cause bags under my eyes, double vision, and other such side effects?  Or
have you figured out gaming codes and other such enhancements that will enable me to fly this thing continuously around the clock?
Answer:  No....    It will still wear you out and cause double vision and blood shot eyes from extreme over-time flying.  We suggest you
take breaks.  Go outside, see the sun, listen to the birds, play in the rain, then get right back into your Pipers and fly some more.  :)
(Thats how I do it).

Question:  My plane will not start from a cold and dark saved flight from 'another plane'?  Why?
Answer:  You 'must' use your own plane to save 'cold and dark flights'.  This is because the Pacers will not have all the 'off/on buttons
and levers' that other planes have.  You must get into a Fairchild 24 from a running state, go to your location choice, with weather and
time set, turn everything off, then 'save' at that point in your Fairchild.  This will insure you can restart it later.  ;)   (Remember this as
many people make this mistake and think their plane is faulty when in actuality it cant start because you are using another planes save
point with different switches and things which do not carry over to the next plane).

General Sales Support / Problems in Italy
« on: January 24, 2017, 05:47:43 PM »
Folks, I am sorry to tell you that some vandals have broken into our newly renovated home i Italy and set the ground floor on fire. Nina and I have been working hard these past 3 years to get the house finished (were still not done) and move there permanently.

Apparently someone down there has gotten real jealous about our progress .....

We were in Holland for business when this happened and are rushing back now. So no support for a few days I'm afraid.... not sure if we can still live in the house (which is the only place with internet).

More news when we have it.

Fence Builder Pro / Free upgrade of FenceBuilder Pro
« on: December 13, 2016, 11:25:03 PM »
Don Grovestein, the author of FenceBuilder Pro, has been expanding his product with new features over the years.
He is now ready to make those features available to registered owners of the products, but only at 'your own risk'.
Don does NOT have time to further support extensions, and so we will NOT publish it as part of a regular product update.
Here's Don's communique:

"..... Since releasing v2, I have updated FenceBuilder PRO for my own use

- fixing some minor issues,
- making editing or relocating fence segments a "less clunky" operation,
- eliminating the need to choose between SimConnect and FSUIPC,
- adapting the product for use with P3D (to the extent of FSX compatibility) and FSX-SE,  and
- adding a couple new features - most notably, the ability to create catenaries, e.g., sagging hydro transmission lines, guy wires, arches, etc..

I am happy to make a copy of the current version available to any registered user of FenceBuilder PRO at no charge, but without obligation for further support.

If you would like a copy, please e-mail me at don at stuff4fs dot com and include your product registration number or other proof of purchase.  Do not use the e-mail address from the old manual; it is no longer in service.
The size of the archive file is approximately 2 mb.  Please ensure your e-mail host will accept .zip files of that size as an attachment. Some widely used services, such as "hotmail" won't....".

FenceBuilder Pro V2 is available in the FSAddon webshop, look under 'FSX Other' catagory of products

FAQ / Where can you buy our products
« on: December 07, 2016, 12:00:08 PM »
As of January 1st, 2017, you can ONLY buy FSAddon Publishing products via our own webshop. We will be no longer selling them via simMarket, Aerosoft, Flight1 and other such resellers. Reason is the high cost and increased workload compared to the reduced income over the years. It just cannot be justified anymore.
Instead I'll be focusing on our own webshop, website, news sites and forums, without the overhead of having to manage all these other places as well!

As an added bonus, there will be a larger share for our authors, because I don't charge much for selling their products.

Message from Simon regarding the WACO sales and issues:

"........ Thanks very much and a big thank you to all who supported us so far as well. Much appreciated.
I will upload the paint kit hopefully during the week and also look into the Texaco power problem, maybe just a slight adjustment in the .cfg file needed.

I am at the holiday resort now and will have on and off Internet most of the time only.....".

Simon Smeiman.

General Sales Support / I need support
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:24:00 AM »
How's that for a special title in a support forum, uh ?
The problem is that I cannot upload anything anymore (except small files like pictures) because of a horrendously bad Internet infrastructure here in rural Italy. Thought it would work, but it doesn't.

And, quite frankly, I have ran out of money.... please read all about it on my special web page here: http://fssupport.com/fsaddon/?page_id=2610  The 'donate button' is also there......

If you are able to help, please do, my gratitude is endless !! I hate asking this, and I apologize up front for doing it..... but I see no other way to get going again.

THANK YOU !!!!!

Francois

General Sales Support / Download problems
« on: July 23, 2015, 12:19:28 PM »
Dear Customers,

further to our changes of website, forum, webshop and servers, I have now discovered that in spite of all the backups and checks I did I have LOST the free downloads and patches. That is a major BUMMER. I am trying to retrieve the most important of them, but my ‘local’ backups are in Holland (and I am in Italy now) and the ‘cloud’ backup is irretrievably lost.

If that wasn’t enough, the server host has automatically upgraded the PHP version on all of their servers, and all of my websites. Not so bad in itself, but for the fact that many of the older programs were not up to it. So now my OLD FSAddon website INCLUDING the old support forum, is not accessible anymore. Another bummer.

I am doing what I can here in rural Italy, but my near dial-up speed web access is not helping any. I will remove obsolete links from the download and support page, and try to get the still valid patches back from the authors, or later from my own backups in the home office.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Francois.

FAQ / Patches and Updates
« on: March 12, 2015, 09:07:47 AM »
Dear all,

Unfortunately the Downloads page that contained patches, upgrades and other free software has gone 'defunct' for now. I forgot about these when changing server and so the links are now broken. I need to FIND and then UPLOAD the files again to the new server..... alas, with a 0.3 Mbps upload speed, this is not quick, and not even possible for larger files.

I am working on it, but the larger files won't be updated until late May when I am back in the Dutch office !

Apologies for the inconvenience !

Kindest regards,
Francois
